Rules and Regulations

  1. The right to use library facilities is exclusively reserved for bona fide students and staff
    of MSU.
  2. Users must show a valid MSU ID Card to security personnel when entering the Library.
  3. A borrower will be held responsible for all material that is taken out under their name
    and may not lend such material to other people. Borrower privileges are not
    transferable.
  4. Lost staff or student cards must be reported immediately to the Libraries.
  5. Any acts of theft or attempted theft of library items are not tolerated in the library.
  6. Personal belongings like bags should be deposited in the Baggage area against a
    token/disc. Loss of the token will attract a fine.
  7. Smoking and eating in the Library is strictly prohibited.
  8. Drinking water is only allowed at designated water dispenser points.
  9. Cellphones and laptops should be put on silent mode or otherwise attract a fine.
  10. Mutilation of Library materials by marking, underlining, or removing pages or portions of
    pages is strictly prohibited.
  11. The Library does not lend out torn or defaced books; if readers lose, damage, or deface
    library resources, they will be asked to replace them.
  12. All items taken in and out of the Library are subject to security checks at the Library
    exit point.
  13. Loss of Library material should be reported immediately.
  14. Library materials are not to be re-shelved by users, as this leads to misplacement of a
    book. A misplaced book is like a lost book.
  15. Journals, dissertations, and past exam papers are reference sources for in-house use
    only.
  16. Users should not remove/ unplug computer cables/connections, network cables, or
    other accessories in the Library.
  17. All forms of payments are to be made at the cash office (Bursar) or bank; receipts are to
    be brought to the Library for verification.
  18. Clients with overdue fines or lost library books or both will be denied clearance and
    access to results until the balances are settled.
  19. Library staff on duty shall not be held responsible for the loss of any personal
    belongings of users in the Library.
  20. Changing the settings and display of the computers in the Library is not permitted.
